Focusing on poverty that occurs is America...
American teens tend to focus on who is wearing
the name brand clothes, who is driving the most expensive car, and who has the money to afford the best college. This is a
stereotype that should no longer exist. There are people in the United States who would die to have
what most Americans take for granted. These people are less wealthy than others. Most of these people are living in severe
poverty, and yet nobody seems to care. Poverty is both an important and emotional issue. It seems through out the years society
has only been focusing on poverty issues in other countries rather than focusing on poverty issues in the United States. Child poverty is greater in America than any other industrialized nation. There are commercials
on the television that always educate Americans on how there are hungry children in different countries and how America can help. Where is the focus on American poverty?
Americans have spent so much time helping other countries but have pushed away the fact that America does have poverty. Rather than giving charity to other countries, America should eliminate the focus on third world countries
and focus on the poor of their own country. There seems to be messages that state Americans are not generous enough to help
the suffering around the world. However, it also seems that countries around the world are not helping the suffrage of Americans.
Americans should respond to their own poverty in such ways to make it non-existence. People in other countries should look
out for themselves. America as a whole
feels that if they do not help other countries with global issues then they are not going to get any support in times when
they are in need.
